At Saint Aubins we are committed to protecting Cape Cod’s resources. Our shop has an extensive selection of natural and organic gardening materials which our landscape division, Ponderosa, uses whenever possible. As a company we are committed to the use of:
- Smokeless oils in our machinery
- Organic fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides
- Hand-watering and drip irrigation to cut back on overhead watering and reduce water usage
- Organic soils and mulches
- Rain barrels and other water-collection methods
We encourage plastic pot recycling and the planting of trees for increased oxygen and shade (so less watering is required)!
Through these methods we strive to protect the quality and quantity of our groundwater; drastically reduce leachate caused by chemical pesticides, protect and encourage bees, worms, and other beneficial insects and microorganisms; and send less plastic and other trash to be burned (which in turn saves our ozone layer!)
